  • The University of Virginia School of Medicine invites applications for a tenure-ineligible Research Professor to work in the lab of Dr. Jianjie Ma. The successful candidate will conduct translational research in the Department of Surgery with a focus on regenerative medicine, aging, and diabetes, and participate in the development and commercialization of novel protein therapy, humanized monoclonal antibody and gene delivery. In addition, the candidate will assist in preparation of STTR/SBIR applications for advancing novel therapies to treat human diseases. There are no clinical responsibilities associated with this position.

    This position is remote and part-time with 20% dedicated effort. This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.

    Qualified applicants will possess a Doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Physiology, Cancer Biology, Pharmacology, or MD equivalent. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate advanced knowledge in cell and molecular biology, drug development pharmacology, and cardiovascular research using animal models. Prior experience in leading SBIR/STTR sponsored studies is preferred. Knowledge on therapeutic development and communication with FDA for regulatory guidance will be valuable for this position.
