    FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

    The CUNY School of Medicine (CSOM) at The City College of New York (CCNY), is the only medical school in the City University of New York system. Our innovative curriculum allows students to complete both their undergraduate Bachelor of Science (BS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) degrees in seven years. CSOM will graduate its first MD class in 2020. CSOM also has a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies (PA). Our mission is to provide access to medical education to talented youth from social, ethnic and racial backgrounds historically underrepresented in medicine and to develop health professionals committed to practicing in under-served communities with a special emphasis on primary care.     We seek to hire a Research Assistant Professor to conduct research and direct the neurology and psychiatry teaching module for the medical preclinical curriculum. This position will report directly to the Department Chair for Molecular, Cellular & Biomedical Sciences.

    Core duties include but are not limited to

    • Participate as lead researcher for a team investigating cognition, movement control, and neurological degenerative disease in humans AND participate in design of the overall project in collaboration with other investigators in the laboratory and the laboratory PI

    • Perform experiments incorporating brain stimulation methods, including TMS and tDCS, cortical electrophysiology (EEG) and brain imaging

    • Coordinate the activity of other team members, which includes postdoctoral fellows, students, and technicians.

    • Coordinate with a diverse team of collaborators, which include biomedical engineers, radiologists, and other neuroscientists involved in the project.

    • Prepare the data collected and analyzed for publication and take the lead in manuscript development.

    • Take advantage of institutional training webinars and workshops in grant writing and career development and will be encouraged to submit grant proposals to support the laboratory's research.

    In addition to research activities, as the neurology and psychiatry teaching module director, the employee will:

    • Serve as content expert for all module sessions and revise content as needed for accuracy

    • Determine the appropriate teaching method for delivering the content to students

    • Recruit faculty to participate in all facets of the module

    • Conduct faculty preparatory sessions for small group teaching sessions

    • Review, revise and develop assessment materials in conjunction with the Course Director

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Qualifications:

    • Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with four or more years of postdoctoral experience.

    • The successful applicant should have a proven record of, or the potential for, high quality scholarly research leading to publications in rigorous peer-reviewed journals.

    • Track record of neuroscience instruction, to be able to prepare and deliver neuroscience lectures in their areas of expertise, and possess the organizational skills to manage the neurology and psychiatry module.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    • Experience conducting research in healthy human subjects and patients using stimulation, cortical recording and brain imaging approaches

    • The ability to perform the research independently.

    • Expert in the use of electrophysiological instrumentation and have considerable expertise in computer-based data analysis.

    COMPENSATION

    Salary: $85,000
