    • This position will be offered to a trainee who has completed internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship programs to gain additional training in transplant hepatology.

    • Thisfellowship is an ACGME-certified program. The fellow will qualify to sit for the certificate of added qualification in transplant hepatology board examination upon completion.

    • Trainee is permitted to perform endoscopy 1/2 day a week

    • This pathway is intended to help create and train future physician clinical scientists & transplant hepatology

    • The diversetraining program will provide inpatient and outpatient experiences with transplant surgery, transplant hepatology, general hepatology, pathology, abdominal radiology, and interventional radiology. In addition, significant time is dedicated to developing clinical research project.

    Job Summary:

    The position of resident or fellow physician entails provision of patient care matching with the individual physician's level of advancement and competence. Residency is the phase of formal medical education beginning at graduation from medical school and ending after the educational requirements for the medical specialty certifying board has been completed. Fellows complete additional training in a medical subspecialty after completing residency training. Both are referred to in this document as resident physician.

    Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    A resident physician's responsibilities include patient care activities within the scope of their clinical privileges commensurate with the level of training, attendance at clinical rounds and seminars, timely completion of medical records, and other responsibilities as assigned or as required of all members of the medical staff. Under the supervision of attending physicians, general responsibilities of the resident physician may include:

    • Initial and ongoing assessment of patient's medical, physical, and psychosocial status.

    • Perform history and physical.

    • Develop assessment and treatment plan.

    • Perform rounds.

    • Record progress notes.

    • Order tests, examinations, medications, and therapies.

    • Arrange for discharge and after care.

    • Write / dictate admission notes, progress notes, procedure notes, and discharge summaries.

    • Provide patient education and counseling covering health status, test results, disease processes, and discharge planning.

    • Perform procedures.

    • Assist in surgery.

    Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

    EDUCATION

    Graduate of an accredited medical or osteopathic school of medicine/dentistry or other health professions school with prior approval

    MO controlled substance registration certificate for those who will be prescribing medications in the state of MO - within 30 days of license date

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.

    • Constant standing and walking.

    • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

    • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.

    • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

    • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.

    • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

    • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

    • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.

    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

    • Occasional driving.

    • Rare crawling and running.
