We are seeking a hardworking and energetic Staff Research Assistant to join our Endocrinology research team which is focused on elucidating molecular mechanisms contributing to metabolic dysfunction and insulin resistance. Duties include vivo rodent research, which involves maintenance of a genetically engineered mouse colony, murine tissue dissection, DNA, RNA and protein isolation, q RT-PCR, immunoblot processing, and rodent exercise training. You will also assist with laboratory organization and maintenance.Qualifications
*General knowledge of substrate metabolism and exercise physiology
*Working knowledge of the microscope and basic laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR, Q-PCR)
*General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents
*Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
*Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail
*Excellent organizational, teamwork and problem-solving skills
*Experience in working with mice/mouse colonies - preferred
*Knowledge of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and chemical waste disposal - preferred
