    Summary:

    The director of simulation education is responsible for collaborating with faculty to integrate simulation into the learning strategies and assessment processes of the pre-licensure curriculum to support achievement of student and program learning outcomes. The director will work closely with content experts, course/program leaders, and Rush Center Clinical Simulation (RCCS) staff to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate simulation-based education and events for the pre-licensure program.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Work collaboratively with faculty, RCCS staff, and other clients and stakeholders to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a cohesive simulation curriculum.

    2. Develop and coordinate the implementation and evaluation of simulation-based learning events, learning objectives, case scenarios, and evaluation methods.

    3. Serves as a subject expert to faculty and students in all matters pertaining to simulation education.

    4. Acts as mentor and consultant to faculty in promoting best practices in simulation learning.

    5. Investigates and utilizes simulation instructional methods that promote student development of critical thinking, clinical decision making, and clinical competency.

    6. Facilitates simulation remediation to students. Discusses individual student learning needs with faculty and collaborates with them to create individualized academic improvement success plan (AISP).

    7. Conducts new faculty orientation on principles of simulation, simulation educational techniques, and other activities as appropriate.

    8. Seeks out and engages in opportunities to learn about current developments and best practices in simulation and share new information with program leadership and faculty.

    9. Collaborates with faculty and staff in generating and disseminating scholarly activities.

    10. Identifies and presents evidence-based techniques that reflect current simulation and interprofessional education practices.

    11. Develops guidelines and/or policies that align with best practice in simulation education.

    12. Develops and presents workshops to faculty on topics supporting INACSL standards of best practice in simulation education.

    13. Maintains documentation of faculty orientation and development activities.

    14. Participates in running simulation events and scenarios as appropriate.

    15. Employs and evaluates new equipment and identify opportunities for technology improvement for integration into the simulation education curriculum.

    16. Provides feedback to MSN leadership on facility, technology, equipment, operational and other needs required for overall success of the simulation education program.

    17. Collaborates with faculty in integrating principles of competency-based education into the simulation curriculum, and in developing learning outcome metrics.

    18. Represents the College of Nursing on the RCCS steering committee.

    Other information:

    Required Job Qualifications:

    1. Licensure as a registered nurse in Illinois

    2. Master's degree in nursing, education or a simulation-related field required.

    3. Certification in simulation required by time of appointment.

    4. Teaching experience in health professions and simulation required.

    Preferred Job Qualifications:

    1. Doctorate in nursing or a related field preferred

    2. Experience managing operations in a simulation education center preferred.

    3. Experience with program evaluation and dissemination of scholarship preferred.
