    We are seeking a Registered Dietitian - Center For Weight Mgmt West will educate patients about bariatric surgery, nutrition therapy and self-management in individual or group settings. Produces comprehensive nutritional assessments non-surgical and on preoperative and postoperative patients and captures. Assesses patient's self-care needs and his/her ability to manage the post-operative nutritional needs.

    In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

    • Apply nutrition care process for developing the patient care plan which include assessing the need of the patient and family, formulating the educational plan, implementing, evaluation and revision as needed

    • Perform and document comprehensive nutritional assessment on preoperative patient. Perform and document comprehensive postoperative nutritional assessment

    • Design and provide nutrition education to patient and their family to facilitate behavioral change and thereby improve nutritional status while promoting weight loss either through surgical or non-surgical intervention.

    • Demonstrate effective teaching skills in a variety of educational setting, including one-on-one instruction and group class which are age appropriate and culturally relevant. Use motivational interviewing and adult learning theory to facilitate effective groups.

    • Collaborate in the design and implementation of nutrition research/quality improvement project, education piece.

    • Participate in group bariatric surgery education class, teaching nutrition education, physical activity content and other bariatric surgery self-management topics as needed.

    • Assist in the management of department resources such as education material and retail nutrition product.


    Required qualifications this position includes:

    • Bachelor's Degree Food & Nutrition or Dietetics OR Master's Degree Food & Nutrition or Dietetics.

    • Completion of an approved American Dietetic Association (ADA) Dietetic Education Program.

    • Current Registered Dietitian and Oregon State Licensure or obtains registration and certification within 3 months of hire.

    • Two (2) years Nutrition experience, preferably 1 year in ambulatory care setting or community health.

    • Experience and comfort with teaching and public speaking.

    Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

    • Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) preferred.

    • Experience with Motivational Interviewing and adult learning theory.

    • Bariatric surgery nutritional experience.
