    St. Andrews needs certified lifeguards and Water Safety Instructors to teach swim lessons. We offer year round employment in a fun and friendly environment. Join us and make a difference teaching people to love aquatics! We offer growth opportunities for lifeguards to become certified Water Safety Instructors or Lifeguard Instructors. We offer competitive pay ranging from $10 for lifeguarding to $15/$30 per hour for group private swim lessons. If you are 15 and up, we can train you to become a lifeguard! Our next class is April 10 - 14.

    We are seeking certified lifeguards for shifts from day to night 7 days a week. We offer 5am-7am shifts, 8am to 12pm shifts or hours in between 8am to 4pm during the weekdays. We offer swim lessons to both adults and children 7 days a week and offer flexible teaching schedules after work.

    Certified Lifeguard/Swim Lesson Instructor


    Ensures safety in the pool area by watching patrons and enforcing rules and regulations. Maintains facility by performing a variety of cleaning chores and monitoring pool chemicals. Attends inservices and responds to situations when they arise.


    This is a part time position in which the incumbent is responsible for:

    • Ensuring the cleanliness of all agency facilities and property

      Creating an inspiring experience for all agency customers

      Acting to ensure the safety and well-being of participants using the pool facility

      Monitoring the pool for appropriate chemical and temperature levels

      Enforcing all rules

      Attending inservices and responding to situations where care or help is needed


    • Fill in for other lifeguards that may not be able to work a shift


    Education and Experience

    • Lifeguard and CPR certification is required

      Must be at least 15 years of age

      1 year of experience lifeguarding is desired

    Physical Demands

    Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.

    • Mobility, strength, and eye/hand/foot coordination sufficient to offer medical assistance up to and including water rescue and CPR if needed

      Strength to lift equipment or materials weighing up to 40 pounds

      Strength to pull a person of up to 300 pounds in water

      Manual dexterity to handle a variety of items such as pool vacuum, pressure washer, control knobs, switches

      Close range vision to read printed materials and far range vision to accurately see participants across the entire pool area

      Lack of allergy to pool chemicals

      Hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone

    Working Conditions

    The majority of work takes place during standard business hours on the first floor of a 48,000-square-foot fitness center containing six offices, two storage rooms, one copy room, a reception area, a pool area, a nursery area, a conference room, a kitchen, three racquetball courts, a squash court, two fitness areas, and two aerobics rooms. The pool area includes the saltwater pool, bleachers, and a basketball area. The air in both areas is warm and humid.

    Certifications and Licensing

    • CPR and First Aid certification is required

      Lifesaving certification is required
