What You Will Do
The position is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of key programs that encompass the Laboratory's Training and Qualification Safety Management Program (T&Q SMP). The selectee will be required to perform training development tasks and provide direction to the line organization in key areas of the training and qualification. The responsibilities will include the development of new training programs and maintenance of existing position qualification standards, course material (OJT and classroom). Procedure training analysis will be a responsibility as will the manipulation of the Laboratory's learning management system (UTrain). This is a mid-level position working with minimal supervision. The candidate will function as the training subject matter expert in all training-related activities for the Safety Basis Division; making certain training products are effective, timely and compliant.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to apply the five phases of the systematic approach to training (SAT) process in training program development.
Expert knowledge of adult learning theory and principles; developing training for a broad customer base.
Ability to develop formal qualification programs for key facility and scientific positions. This will include the review of technical procedures with subject matter experts and walking through work processes within the plant to identify the correct training rigor.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Regulations, Orders and Policies pertaining to training requirements.
Ability to work with key stakeholders (process subject matter experts and federal oversight personnel) to ensure training programs meet customer needs and regulatory drivers.
Ability to work semi-autonomously in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and customers.
Desired Skills (skills that are nice to have, but not necessary)
Working level knowledge of DOE O 426.2, Personnel Selection, Qualification, and Training Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities.
Working level knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures pertaining to training.
Working knowledge of the LANL learning management system (UTrain) or other learning management system, and associated business rules.
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory's Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. Employee participation in the Telework Pilot may be shortened or extended at the manager's discretion. Ability to report on-site is a must for this position.
