    Job Summary:

    The Laboratory Educator is responsible for the system laboratory education program and maintaining all required documentation. The educator assists lab leadership with lab competency development, coordinates clinical rotations for students in laboratory education programs, and provides introductory and/or focused education and training for new laboratory teammates. The Laboratory Educator is responsible for overseeing the laboratory orientation program for the system. Participates in the quality and improvement activities of the system.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: B.S. in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution.

    Experience: At least 5 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory scientist required. For positions responsible for education in Histotechnology and Cytotechnology, 5 years of experience specific to these areas required. Prior experience in a supervisory/management or clinical education role preferred.

    Licensure/Certification: ASCP certification as an MT/MLS. For positions responsible for Education in Histotechnology and Cytotechnology, ASCP certification in Histology or Cytotechnologist required.

    Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrates organizational and leadership ability. Demonstrates a thorough working knowledge laboratory science and regulatory requirements. Demonstrates knowledge of adult learning principles. Demonstrates ability to perform educational presentations both orally and in writing. Demonstrates proficiency in computer systems to include clinical and office application programs. Demonstrates exceptional customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.
