Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Early Learning Center Director to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the daily operations of our childcare facility, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, and developing and implementing programs and activities that promote growth and development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

- Oversee the daily operations of the facility, including staffing, finances, and activities.

- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children by implementing policies and procedures.

- Develop and implement COP Curriculum that includes Tool of the Mind, Conscious Discipline programs and activities.

- Communicate with parents and guardians to ensure satisfaction with the facility and its services.

- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, record-keeping, and budgeting.

- Monitor staff performance and provide feedback to ensure effectiveness.

- Develop and implement marketing strategies to recruit students.

- Meet with parents and teachers to discuss child development and progress.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

- Minimum 3 years of experience in childcare or a related field.

- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Knowledge of child development and behavior.

- Understanding of health and safety regulations for childcare facilities.

- Child Development Site Supervision Permit (Required).

- Child Development Program Director Permit (Required or must obtain within a year).

 

Essential Functions

  1. Plans, designs, evaluates, and implements all aspects of the COP Early Learning Center childcare programs in accordance with prescribed guidelines.
  2. Hires, trains, motivates, and evaluates appropriate staff.
  3. Develop, implements, and monitors annual budgets for programs.

  4. Responsible for all aspects of program development, quality, and safety.
  5. Maintains required enrollment numbers.
  6. Administers the program in accordance with California State Community Licensing requirements and guidelines.
  7. Maintains and completes all staff records and all required reports and inspections, in addition to responding to all inspection requests within required timeframes.
  8. Completes annual inspections within required timeframe with fire department, Department of Health, etc. as required.
  9. Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to ensure balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  10.  Ensure the efficient processing of program billing.
  11. Maintains a clean and sanitary environment and meets all state and local licensing requirements.
  12. Inspects equipment within the building for safety hazards, damage, or wear.
  13. Communicate any suggestions to direct supervisor to improve the site operations.

  14. Monitors and assists in maintaining the cleanliness of the Early Learning Center and program area.
  15. Fills staff vacancies in accordance with association guidelines.
  16. Ensures staff members maintain required training.
  17. Holds effective staff meetings.
  18. Maintains accurate records for childcare programs, facility, and staff.
  19. Substitutes in a classroom when needed.
  20. Communicate to Executive Director any concerns or incidents that may need followup.

  21. Build relationships with members, program participants and community partners.

  22. Remains visible to participants when on duty.
  23. Increases program participant awareness of healthy lifestyle factors.
  24. Actively recruits, trains, and engages groups of volunteers.
  25. Actively participates in the Children of Promise Foundation Annual campaign as assigned.
  26. Attends parent events/family programs.
  27. Maintains appropriate records for food program.
  28. Promotes childcare programs by development and distribution of marketing materials in compliance with association standards.
  29. Protects confidential information regarding program participants, families, and staff members.
