    Description of Work Unit

    Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation's leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Fort Collins is situated on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains with views of 14,000 foot peaks, and offers access to numerous cultural, recreational, and outdoor opportunities.

    The Department of Computer Information Systems has twelve full-time faculty and is one of five departments in the College of Business. The Department, founded in 1964, was one of the first CIS Departments in the country. Together, the Department and College provide excellent support for research including summer research programs and a dedicated lab for behavioral research.

    The College of Business at Colorado State University enrolls more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students in on-campus and online programs. The CIS department has approximately 200 undergraduate students enrolled in its Computer Information Systems concentration. The College was among the first to offer an AACSB accredited distance MBA degree. That program streams lectures of an on-campus cohort to about 900 off-campus students. The CIS department has approximately 230 students enrolled in its Master of Computer Information Systems program and provides the program to online learners using this same "lecture capture" delivery model. The program has consistently been ranked as one of the top 20 information systems programs in the nation.

    Position Summary

    The Department of Computer Information Systems invites applications for the position of Instructor of Computer Information Systems. This is a 9-month non-tenure track contract appointment position with benefits and a renewable contract of three years.

    The purpose of this position is to (1) teach face-to-face and online format, technical courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs, including (but not limited to) business information systems, business analytics, database management, systems analysis and design, cybersecurity, machine learning, ERP and cloud computing; (2) participate in service activities.

    The preferred anticipated start date is August 15, 2024. A later start date may be negotiated.

    Salary will be commensurate based upon credentials, experience, qualifications, and workload distribution.

    The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the Department of Computer Information Systems will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

    Required Job Qualifications

    • Applicants must have a master's or a doctoral degree in information systems, computer science, or a closely related field.

    • Experience in higher education teaching and/or professional training in business information systems and business analytics.

    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in the classroom or professional training and/or curriculum development.

    Preferred Job Qualifications

    Preference will be given to candidates with

    • Professional IT work experience.

    • Experience in higher education teaching and/or professional training in one or more of the following areas: database management, systems analysis and design, cybersecurity, machine learning, ERP and cloud computing.

    • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in information systems and business analytics topics/concepts.

    • Demonstrated effectiveness working in teams and collaborating with colleagues.
