  • The Department of Emergency Medicine, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks multiple candidates to join the faculty as tenure-ineligible Clinical Instructors for its 1 to 2 year fellowships. The design of these fellowship (~~~/) programs is to produce national leaders in their respective areas of Emergency Medicine. Positions available are in Administration, Medical Education, Research, and International/Global Emergency Medicine Education and Leadership. The Department of Emergency Medicine (~~~/) has a rich academic history that includes well-established education programs for medical students, residents and fellows. Andrew E. Muck, MD, MBA, leads the Department of Emergency Medicine that includes adult care, pediatric care, and an active air and ground emergency transport program.

    The University of Virginia Medical Center is a 600-bed tertiary care and Level 1 trauma center located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Charlottesville. Currently, the UVA Emergency Department treats an annual volume of >70,000 patients inclusive of adult and pediatrics. The UVA expansion opened in late 2019 and provides for a new adult and pediatric Emergency Department, as well as a tower to provide expanded surgical and in patient services. The UVA Emergency Department has a well-established residency program with a stable group of excellent faculty members who are active regionally, nationally, and internationally in teaching, research, and advocacy.

    Qualified applicants must have completed an ABEM/ABOEM accredited Emergency Medicine residency or ABEM/ABOEM accredited Emergency Medicine, or qualified subspecialty, fellowship and be eligible to obtain clinical privileges at UVA in the Department of Emergency Medicine prior to July 2024. Incumbents must be board-certified or board-eligible, have an MD or DO, and demonstrate a genuine passion in the area of interest to which they apply. The fellowship directors of each of the programs heavily emphasizes New Faculty Development.
