I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
â€¢ Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of orientation and other educational programs for employees in Patient Services, The Queen's Health Systems, and the community. May provide bedside/on-site education to the nursing staff and other support staff for patients.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
â€¢ Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, and speaking.
â€¢ Frequent: walking, standing, sitting.
â€¢ Occasional: lifting up to Â½ pound static gripping of an object for prolonged periods stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, pushing and pulling up to 30 pounds.
â€¢ Infrequent: Kneeling, pushing and pulling up to 35 pounds, horizontal, lifting/carrying up to 30 pounds, floor to waist up to 30 pounds, waist to shoulder up to 5 pounds, and bending.
â€¢ Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax and printer.
â€¢ Operates various specialty equipment, example: machines, tools, etc. based on assignment.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
â€¢ Exposed to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
â€¢ Exposed to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, communicable diseases, and body fluids.
â€¢ Working environment is sometimes stressful due to workload.
â€¢ Frequently works on multiple tasks and priorities at one time.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
â€¢ Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
â€¢ Master's degree or Doctoral degree in Nursing or related health field preferred.
â€¢ Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
â€¢ Evidence of ongoing continuing education.
â€¢ Current certification in CPR at Healthcare Professional level. ACLS may be required, depending on area of assignment.
â€¢ Current certification may be required in certain specialty areas. For the following specialties, must obtain certification within the prescribed period upon entrance into the position:
o For Perinatal Services:
? Must obtain Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification within six (6) months of entrance into the position.
? Must obtain Instructor certification within one (1) year of entrance into the position.
o For Operating Room:
? Must obtain CNOR certification within six (6) months of entrance into the position.
â€¢ Three (3) years recent nursing experience in area of assignment.
â€¢ One (1) year experience in an education position preferred.
â€¢ Experience to demonstrate leadership and communication abilities.
