    Responsibilities

    The Opportunity

    PCG's Education Consulting service line seeks Curriculum Specialists for aproject that will support a district toidentifyand implement opportunities forK-5cross-curricular integrationand for consistent implementation of K-5 interventions. The projectprovidesmotivated individuals a unique opportunity to supportstudents, educators, and administrators througha program review of the K-5 English language arts, Science, and Social Studies curriculaand interventionsfor a majorschooldistrictin the US.CurriculumSpecialists will engage incurriculum audit activities,the development of interventionimplementation guidance, and/orthe developmentand delivery ofprofessional learningcontenttosupport implementation of therecommendations.The process will be highly collaborative.Specific responsibilities and skill/experience requirements are detailed below.This is a remote, work-from-home, part-timetemporary role startingMay2024with an expected duration of4-6months, with the potential opportunity for extension.

    About PCG's Education Consulting Service Line

    PCG's Education Consulting Service Line works with states, districts, and schools to address a wide spectrum of needs such as curriculum development, instructional resources audits, design and facilitation of professional development and professional learning communities, school improvement, and program reviews.?

    Recent project engagements have includedacollaborationwith Chicago Public Schools (IL) to develop a full-year, standards-aligned digital curriculum for PK-12 English Language Arts and mathematics. Weareproviding asynchronous and synchronous professional learning to teachers and administrators to support implementation. We alsorecentlydeveloped a K-5 ELA curriculum in partnership with Pinellas County Schoolsand a K-2 ELA curriculum in partnership with the School District of Lee Countyto support their transition to the Florida B.E.S.T standards.Currently, we are partnering with the Texas Education Agency to develop and/or revise several curricula to respond to stakeholder feedback, including K-12 Reading Language Arts, K-6 Spanish Language Arts, K-5 Mathematics, K-5 Social Studies, K-2 Spanish Skills, K-5 Science, and K-5 Integrated (Science, Social Studies, Reading Language Arts).?Additionally, wehaveengaged in theNew York City Department of Education Hidden Voices initiativeto developK-12 English language arts mini-unitsthat center the voices and experiences of Americans with Disabilities, Asian-American Pacific Islanders, and Latinos.

    The Role

    Responsibilities and expectations ofK-5CurriculumSpecialistsincludethe following.

    • Participate in ahighlycollaborativeprocess,which includesregular engagement with team members, peer review,client feedback,and other formative feedback.

    • Reviewdocumentsand datarelated toexistingcurricular resources inK-5English language arts, Science, and Social Studies, as well as Tier 2 and 3 interventions.Materialsfor reviewmay includecurriculum guides,yearlong curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, standards matrix for standards assessed and addressed at each grade level, unit-level overviews,district frameworks, assessment data,and/orguidance/regulations.

    • Apply PCG-specified rubric(s) in reviewing materials.

    • Contribute to the development of a grade-banded scope and sequence forintervention,including the development of a template and models for client review.

    • Contribute to thedevelopment ofK-5knowledge maps.

    • Provide recommendations for opportunities for integration across the English language arts, Science, and Social Studies resources.

    • Contribute to the developmentofsurveys andinterview and focus group protocols.

    • Facilitate interview and focus groups (tentative)

    • Provide analysis ofsurvey,interview, and focus group data.

    • Contribute to the creation of professional learning materials for educators and administrators, including a program review presentation and/orsessions to communicate the interventions guidance thatwill bedeveloped.

    • Deliver on-site professional learning (tentative)

    • Availability duringregularwork week, with some night or weekend work as needed.

    • Commitmentforthe duration of the project (anticipated to be 4-6 months) with potential opportunity for future work.

    Qualifications

    Work Experience

    • Bachelor'sdegree or higher.

    • Experience teaching diverse learnersinelementaryclassroom(s), including EnglishLanguage Learnersand students withdisabilities.

    • Experience developing curricular resourcesfor use byothers.

    • Experience withCommon Corestandardsand/or college-and career-readystandards.

    • Experience with digital learning instructional design (Preferred).

    • Familiarity with HMH(Preferred).

    • Familiarity with Google Drive (Preferred).

    • Knowledgeable about interdisciplinary learning and curriculum integration.

    • Knowledgeable about culturally responsive education.

    • Knowledgeable about educational data and skilled atquantitative and qualitativedata analysis.

    • Knowledgeable about tools such as the EQUIP rubric,EdReports, and other tools for assessing instructionalmaterials.

    • Passionate about reading, writing, and a wide variety of types of texts.

    Compensation

    Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.?As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: Up to $50 per hour. This is a remote, W - 2 temporary position.
