    The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time open rank - consult division psychiatrist position. This position will work at Children's Hospital Colorado.

    Nature of Work

    The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist must demonstrate clinical experience and excellence with children and adolescents and the ability to manage different levels of acuity. The Consultative Division Psychiatrist will serve on multidisciplinary teams working alongside advance practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants), psychologists, masters level clinicians, and numerous trainees. A history of or passion for teaching and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students and working with milieu staff is desired across all teams and scholarly activities are encouraged and supported.

    As referenced above, the consult division psychiatrist may function in clinical roles serving many entities. All roles may require teaching and supervision of trainees. All roles may also include coverage for peers within the Consult Division.

    Examples of Work Performed

    The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    • PMHI Inpatient Psychiatric Consultation & Liaison (CL) Services- Anschutz

    • Serve inpatient medical, subspecialty, and surgical patients

    • Telepsychiatry evaluations to inpatient admissions at network of care locations (North, South)

    • Conduct diagnostic, medication, safety/risk, "coping" consultations to patients with comorbid medical/surgical and behavioral health needs

    • Conduct SAFTeam Consultations (support when pt/family and team communications break down or obstructions to care occur)

    • Support BART (emergency behavioral assistant and response team) needs across settings

    • Liaison work supporting the clinical care and psychiatric consultation of medical and surgical patients with comorbid mental health needs.

    • PMHI ED Psychiatric Consultation Service

    • Serve ED locations (Anschutz, North, South, Colorado Springs)

    • Telepsychiatry evaluations to NOC locations

    • Primary responsibility is review and staffing of Safety/Risk/Crisis Assessments conducted by master's level licensed clinicians (BHC's) across these various settings

    • Support of Psychiatric Emergencies in consultation to ED medical providers surrounding required cares (Mental Health Holds, Restraint and Seclusion, Emergency Medications, etc).

    • PMHI Psychiatric Crisis Team

    • Serve ED locations (Anschutz, North, South, Colorado Springs)

    • Provide clinical care in an integrated model (working with ED medical providers) to assist in psychiatric triage, rapid assessments, medication, and diagnostic consultations.

    • Provide clinical care to boarding (awaiting inpatient psychiatric placement) and extended stay (awaiting community or lower level of care placements) patients

    • Serve PMHI Crisis Clinic which may include intake assessments, medication evaluations, individually and family therapy services, as well as coordination with robust care management systems and teams.

    The Consult Division Psychiatrists reports to the PMHI Medical Director, Sandra Fritsch.

    Supervision Exercised

    The Consult Division Psychiatrist will not supervise other employees.

    Salary and Benefits:

    The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at

    Instructor: $205,000 to $220,000.

    Senior Instructor: $205,000 to $220,000.

    Assistant Professor: $205,000 to $220,000.

    Associate Professor: $220,000 to $245,000.

    Professor: $250,000 to $300,000.

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    • Applicants must possess a Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.

    • Must obtain Medical staff privileges within Children's Hospital Colorado.

    • Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting, having completed a child/adolescent residency, academic/residency program related experience highly desirable.

    • Must be board certified in child and adolescent psychiatry within 3 years.

    Faculty:

    Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Assistant Professor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Associate Professor: 4-7 years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Professor: 7+ years of related clinical experience at rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

    • Clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.

    • Leadership and teaching experience valued.
