    The University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. This faculty position will provide evidence-based care to children and adolescents in multi-disciplinary settings.

    Nature of Work

    The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist for Outpatient and CoPPCAP programs must demonstrate clinical experience and excellence with children and adolescents and the ability to manage different acuity levels, including working with children in outpatient and peer-to-peer consult settings. CoPPCAP, the Colorado Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation & Access Program (~~~) supports pediatric primary care providers through peer-to-peer consultations, 1x only direct patient consultations, resource referrals, and education. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to apply and implement evidence-based approaches to care and support the pediatric primary care provider to assess and treat mild to moderate behavioral health concerns presenting in primary care. A history of teaching and mentoring residents, fellows, and medical students is also desired. Scholarly activities are encouraged and supported. The psychiatrist position will serve a diverse population of patients

    The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

    • Able to perform initial psychiatric diagnostic interviews, develop and follow through with treatment plans, and maintain timely and focused documentation through the electronic medical record and/or RedCap Database.

    • Able to conduct one-time-only consultations to aid in diagnostic clarification and guide treatment in the primary care setting

    • Ability to apply and implement evidence-based approaches to care including using evidence-based guidelines for prescriptions and monitoring medications in the pediatric population

    • Develop, train, and supervise psychiatry and psychology trainees

    • Carry a caseload on the outpatient psychiatric unit and serve on the consultation team in the CoPPCAP program

    • Participate in educational activities and development of management support materials for pediatric primary care providers

    Supervision Received

    The Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist report to the Medical Director of the Pediatric Mental Health Institute and the Program Director for the Colorado Pediatric Psychiatry Consultation and Access (CoPPCAP) program, Sandra Fritsch.

    Supervision Exercised

    The psychiatrist will not supervise other employees.

    The position will provide training and mentoring to graduate students and/or postdoctoral fellows, etc.

    Salary and Benefits:

    The salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established at:

    Instructor, Senior Instructor, Assistant Professor: $220,000 to $250,000

    Associate Professor: $250,000 to $270,000

    Professor: $280,000 to $310,000

    The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

    The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

    • Applicants must possess a Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, or Board eligible in Child Psychiatry within 3 years of hire.

    • Must obtain medical staff privileges within Children's Hospital Colorado.

    • Must have prior experience in a Child Psychiatric setting, having completed a child/adolescent residency, academic/residency program-related experience highly desirable.

    Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Senior Instructor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Assistant Professor: 1-3 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Associate Professor: 4-7 years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    Professor: 7+ years of related clinical experience at a rank or equivalent experience. Minimum degree qualifications: MD and/or DO

    • Special Skills: Colorado Medical License, DEA Certificate, Board Certified in Psychiatry, and Board eligible in Child Psychiatry within 3 years of hire.

    Preferred Qualifications (applicable for all ranks)

    • Clinical experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred.

    • Leadership and teaching experience valued.
