  • The School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia seeks an Assistant or Associate Professor of Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the Department of Human Services. The successful candidate will serve as an Audiologist who will devote 55-75% time to providing direct care clinical audiology services as Audiology Service Lead within the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Clinical Services (SJC) (~~~) , with 25-45% time devoted to teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in audiology and supporting the associated academic programs. The Audiology Service Lead will play a central role in defining a vision for the Service, including shaping services to match career and clinical interests. This is a 12-month, salaried, tenure-ineligible position.

    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • PhD in Audiology or a Doctorate of Audiology (Au.D.)

    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) issued by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASH)

    • Current Virginia audiology and hearing-aid dispensing license-eligible

    • Clinical experience with audiological evaluation and treatment, including patient/family counseling and hearing-aid fitting

    Preferred Qualifications and Experience

    • Experience instructing and supervising graduate clinicians for the purpose of fostering independent clinical decisions grounded in best practices

    • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in audiology

    • Experience building or sustaining a clinical caseload

    • Demonstrated enthusiasm/passion for clinical care
