  • Responsibilities

    The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, in Rochester, NY, is currently recruiting for a pathologist to provide coverage on the autopsy service; additional service responsibilities in a surgical subspecialty are possible for interested candidates. The ideal candidate will also have interest in cardiac pathology. Successful applicants must be board-eligible in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology and be eligible for a medical license in the State of New York and Faculty appointment in the School of Medicine and Dentistry

    The Department provides a very wide range of services; autopsy volume is currently approximately 225 annually. Surgical pathology is completely subspecialized and accessions 100,000 cases per year. The anatomic pathology division includes more than 40 pathologists.

    The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a program in applied, translational, or basic research. The Medical Center has a highly collegial environment. There are multiple opportunities for collaborative research and for the development of clinical initiatives through interactions with Medical Center faculty.

    Opportunities for teaching are ample: we have an expanding residency program and increasingly popular medical student rotations. We have multiple ACGME-accredited fellowships including forensic pathology (based at the Monroe County Office of the Medical Examiner) as well as non-ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship positions in surgical pathology.

    Pay Range

    Pay Range: $220,000 - $285,140 Annually

    The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
