    Essential functions (job duties):

    The Division of Engineering Technology (ET) at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MCT) program with a focus on design and energy systems at the rank of Assistant Professor to start in August 2024. Successful applicants should demonstrate a potential to develop and maintain application-oriented research and to excel at teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Demonstrated interest and experience in alternative energy technologies will be a distinct advantage.

    Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the Division as assigned.

    Engaging in scholarly activities in terms of publishing in refereed journals and conferences and seeking extramural grants.

    Participating in course, curriculum, and program development.

    Advising and mentoring students, providing career guidance, and supervising undergraduate research projects.

    Participating in the program assessment and accreditation activities.

    Participating in division, college, university, and community services.

    Attending and participating in scheduled departmental meetings and functions.

    Providing other support services to the department, college and/or university, as applicable.

    Qualifications

    Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.

    Evidence of successful college teaching experience in MCT or related courses.

    Evidence of research participation and dissemination of research findings.

    Demonstrated or has the potential to conduct scholarly activities in an MCT-related field.

    Preferred qualifications

    Demonstrated expertise in alternative energy technologies. Prior university-level teaching experience in MCT or related programs. Demonstrated industry network and interactions with the related industry through training, practice, service, research programs and similar partnerships. Dedication to actively providing leadership to students through student club sponsorship, competition team coaching, organizing, and implementing similar student activities.
