For any elementary teacher, finding good books to read with the class and recommend for students to take home to read can be a challenge. Reading is one of the most important skills to master in the early years. Studies have shown that elementary literacy instruction develops students' linguistic and cognitive abilities through the explicit integration of reading, writing, speaking, and listening into instruction across all content areas and activities. Literacy is the key to life long learning and overall success, anything you can do to encourage your students to make reading a part of their life is always a benefit to them.
