Supply And Demand

If you are a supply teacher you know that sometimes the phone rings before the sun rises and sometimes it rings minutes before the school bell does and you never quite know what the day will bring. How can you make mornings run more smoothly at your house? Follow these simple tips!

Set the alarm! You don't have to get out of bed, but set the alarm for the time schools could start calling you, that way you are awake enough to understand the information from the person calling.

Keep pens and paper around where your phone is and write down EVERYTHING. School name, who you're supplying for, what subject etc... Don't rely on your memory, especially if you are not a morning person.

    • Pack your lunch the night before. No matter if you get a job call in the morning or not, we all have to eat so it won't be wasted and it will be one less thing to think about.

    • Map your area. Look up and print out or bookmark directions to the schools in your district so you're not frantically trying to figure out how to get to a new school with no notice. If you have some free time, take a drive around and locate the schools so you don't feel lost.

    • Set out your clothing. Again, job or no job we all need to get dressed at some point during the day. Setting out your clothes at night can save time and effort.

    • Put your purse/wallet, keys and cell phone by the door so you're not playing “find the keys” on the way out.

    • Last but not least, don't go to bed with an empty tank, of gas that is. Trying to find a gas station and your school of the day is just added stress to a morning.

A few minutes at night before you head off to dreamland can make a BIG difference in the morning! Don't forget, if you're ready to move beyond supply work check out http://www.educationjobsite.com.
