Kids Say The Funniest Things!

Kids say the funniest things, and it is no different in the classroom. Anyone who has spent any amount of time in a classroom environment, undoubtedly has some hysterical stories to tell about the funny things that the students have come up with. Especially in the elementary years, children hear things on television, from their parents or other adults, from books they have read and even from teachers that they don't fully understand and struggle to make sense of them, often with very interesting results.

A new website designed for teachers is a great place to have a laugh and share some of your funny stories. The site is Classroom Chuckles, and it is aimed at allowing teachers to anonymously share quotes from their students. Here are some of the gems:

I was teaching second grade and students were supposed to come as dressed as someone they considered a hero. Later in the day, they were drawing and writing about their hero. One little girl had drawn a picture of a beautiful woman with whales swimming all around her. When I asked her who her hero was, she said, "Diana, Princess of Whales"!

I am a reading consultant in an elementary school. In the beginning of the year, we assess the kindergarten students on letter recognition and letter sound knowledge. One of our K teachers asked her student, "Do you know what this letter says?" He looked at her for a second before slowly lowering his ear to the paper. After a few seconds he said, "I don't hear anything!" Priceless...

One kindergarten boy complained that another boy had called him a "maniac". The other boy admitted that he had said it. I asked him if he knew what it meant. He said "Sure I do, a maniac is a man who fixes cars!"

Although the site is still growing, it is a great place to go for a laugh. Sometimes all you can do is shake your head and have a good laugh about the crazy things that happen at school. I hope that you enjoy it!
