Finally, The Perfect Bra, Created By a New Algorithm

It's amazing what technology and coding skills can do. Two ex-Microsoft employees decided to use their skills to solve a problem that a huge majority of women have. What's that?



It's finding a bra that actually fits.



For years, bra technology has stayed pretty much the same. Although lingerie companies have tried to come up with new ways to lift and separate, the formula for finding the right fit still involves a tape measure. Countless articles in women's magazines say that the majority of women are wearing the wrong bra size, but I have always wondered if the problem was with the women or with the way that bras are sized. After all, if the majority of people are doing it wrong, then maybe there's something wrong with the process.



Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so. A new company, True and Co has come up with a new algorithm that is supposed to do a better job coming up with the right bra size than the old tape measure trick. They stand behind it so much that they have created a website where women can sign up, take a quiz and then select three bras from the suggested list. Then, the company mails the three selected bras, along with two others that they selected using their formula.



Once the user receives their package, they can try on all five bras and then send back the ones they don't like. All they have to do is pay for the ones they keep. Sound too good to be true?



I thought so. In order to get the information, I signed up for the service and took the test. Although the site doesn't seem to offer much for women who are plus sized or who have larger than a DD cup size, the questions were easy and the bras they let me chose from were cute. I haven't received my bras yet, but I'm hoping that I'll have better luck than I would at a retail store.



It's interesting to see people use skills from other professions to create a new product or way of doing things. It's just a reminder that being innovative means looking for new ways to improve.
