The University of Toronto offers an outstanding opportunity to lead Hart House (), a historic student and community centre. Located on the St. George campus, it seeks to provide enriching opportunities for exploration and exchange to students from across the university's three campuses, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community. Hart House provides a broad spectrum of social, cultural, athletic and academic activities and, as a leader in experiential and co-curricular learning, plays a vital role in the education of students beyond their experience in the classroom. The Warden provides leadership in realizing the House's philosophy as the director of a multi-faceted facility which encompasses: athletic facilities; program and performance areas; an art gallery; a farm; food services and event facilities. The successful candidate should have demonstrated success in the creation, administration and assessment of student life programs. (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS) * Demonstrated success in the creation, administration and assessment of student life programs, with a particular focus on student learning through engagement. * Understanding of current student learning and development theory and practice. * Demonstrated ability to manage the financial and personnel affairs of a complex facility. * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals and groups, particularly students. Must be able to act as a liaison between Hart House and the external community in publicity and fund-raising matters and to work with the University's administrators, faculty and academic leaders. Must have a familiarity with an academic environment. * In previous positions and/or in other areas of engagement, the incumbent must have demonstrated leadership in working with diverse groups. * Although this position does not require formal experience with the arts or arts administration, the successful candidate will have demonstrated appreciation and familiarity with these areas, and will be able to address how all of the activities and programs of the House, including those in the arts, can contribute to student learning. * A graduate degree in a relevant area and experience managing a revenue-generating facility would be definite assets.
