Introduction The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Test Engineer.
Responsibilities 1) Support the development and implementation of a secure voice services test network. This assisting with development of network designs and documentation.
2) Configure maintain, and support Cisco routers, switches, WiFi access point, 3G, Piococell, IPSec Gateway, mobile handheld devices following APL's network management protocols, vendor standards and industry best practices.
3) Operate and maintain lab equipment; support tests / demonstrations; test new technologies and configurations; and write implementation procedures.
4) Assist in creating and implementing test scripts and test plans. Assist with the documentation and troubleshooting of identified issues. Qualifications The candidate will support the implementation of test networks; support day-to-day management of a test lab; support design and implementation of future test network architectures; develop and execute test scripts; and document test results.
Required:
BS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering or science field with specific concentration or background in computers, networks, voice communication, and security protocols. Knowledge of TCP/IP, VLAN, VPNs, 802.11, 802.11b/g, 802.11n, HAIPE, NAT, and IPSec/VPN protocols; Cisco router 3500 and Cisco switches 2900 series; Cisco IOS Rel 11.x - 12.x; Cisco Cat OS Rel 4.x - 6.x. Strong interpersonal, communications and organizational skills.

Desired: MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering or science field. 2-4 years experience with demonstrated expertise in working with complex network environments. Experience One or more current certifications: CCNA, CCNA Voice, CCNP, CCVP/CCNP, and CCIE.
