Position Description ON Semiconductor's Medical Division requires an enthusiastic, technically skilled, and highly organized individual to assist with chip test and characterization activities for our products. Our products are designed for several key markets including medical and audiology (hearing aids).
The incumbent will act in the role of a Chip Test and Characterization Engineer and Lab Coordinator. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and development of test and characterization systems for our semiconductor products. The incumbent will work closely with both ASIC and System Engineers in developing, implementing, and setting up experiments to evaluate analog and digital performance of new and existing chips.
As well, the role will involve improving the lab best practices and maintaining all the lab equipment and procedures. The incumbent will be required to mentor other staff in the proper use of lab equipment and procedures on an on-going basis.
Position Requirements Qualifications . Technologist degree or electrical/computer engineering degree or equivalent . Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience . Fluent in English with proven communication skills, including experience in authoring detailed technical reports and presentations . Specialization in audio devices, semiconductors or related technology
Key Responsibilities . Perform test and characterization of new and existing products (testing will include electrical, temperature, audio, and electroacoustic) . Work with engineers to setup test and characterization environments . Perform data collection and analysis on characterization results and write test reports . Design PCBs for chip evaluations and other related prototyping systems . Establish and enforce processes and procedures for the lab, including ensuring that all lab equipment is properly maintained and calibrated . Continually refine processes and procedures for the lab to improve and standardize characterization techniques and methodologies . Provide support for customer problems as required
Skills and Knowledge . Expertise with hardware measurement techniques using lab measurement equipment and practices (eg. GPIB, oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, temperature chambers). Knowledge of specialized audio test equipment (eg. AudioPrecision) is an asset.
