Job Responsibilities: * Provide accurate, usable, and task-oriented user documentation for installation, administration, deployment, troubleshooting, and conceptual guides. * Author CLI reference, policy reference, and release note information. * Plan and create online help systems, write context-sensitive help, and conduct user testing when required. * Work closely with software developers to understand highly-technical information, extract user tasks, and conduct reviews. * Use the product to understand and indentify user workflows, confirm technical information, and test procedures. * Juggle multiple releases and priorities. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product Management, Support, QA, and Development, to author and review content. * Work with Support and other groups to understand users and their needs. Review support issues to identify improvement areas. Work daily to improve the customer experience. * Align on corporate and departmental goals and objectives. * Monitor and track documentation bugs.
Required Experience
* Four-year degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, or related field. * Five to eight years of technical writing experience; preferably with at least three in the networking field. * Proficient in Adobe FrameMaker, RoboHelp or Flare (or another help authoring tool), and MS Office. * Familiarity with HTML. * Experience using source code control tools such as Perforce. * Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in written form. * Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills. * Ability to make independent decisions even when faced with ambiguity. * Ability to work in a distributed team; the writer will report to a manager in a different geographic location.
