Overview: The Online Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere through an online environment where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth. This person is responsible for organizing, implementing, and managing an instructional online program that will result in students achieving academic success. Additionally, the online teacher has a key responsibility in assisting with the creation, updating, and general maintenance of the online courses as determined by the Director of Education and Director of Curriculum and Product Development.
Responsibilities: * Provide a positive online environment in which students are encouraged to be actively engaged in the learning process. * Initiate and maintain regular contact with assigned students and school administrators. * Answer student inquiries in an accurate and timely manner using media appropriate to the question(s) asked. * Grade assessments and provide instructional feedback in an acceptable, timely manner. * Create, provide, and modify additional instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. * Maintain accurate and efficient record keeping procedures through Advanced Academics' CRMS. * Stay informed and manages each individual district's requirements (i.e. deadlines, grading scales, expectations). * Implement and maintain all official departmental policies (i.e. Completion Policy, SES Contact Policy, and CAHSEE Policy). * Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, school administrators, co-workers, and other professionals on a regular basis. * Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, school administrators, co-workers, and other professionals on a regular basis. * Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment. * Assist in assessing, creating, editing, and continually improving the content and quality of online courses to meet changing curricular needs. * Acquire and maintain teacher certifications in assigned, required states as recognized by the Director of Education. * Attend professional development workshops and presentations to keep current in subject area and distance learning styles and programs. * Assist in the development of processes within the Education Department and offer ideas to improve student performance and increase student involvement in courses. * Attend staff meetings regularly. * Complete other projects or duties as assigned by the Director of Education.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, a current state approved teacher certification, and a minimum of 3 years of successful classroom experience. Candidate will also be required to complete a background check and demonstrate a high degree of technology and computer skills. Finally, a candidate should possess a passion for education and be highly motivated toward self-discipline and quality work. Additional Skills: Technical The Online Teacher should have a solid understanding of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Additional knowledge of Internet coding and web design software such as Macromedia is recommended. Management The Online Teacher should possess the skills to manage any part-time Teacher Assistants and/or Graders, who are assigned to their department as support in the teacher's process of providing a positive online learning environment for the students.
