Position: Systems Design Engineer
Location of job: Cleveland, OH
Compensation: 100-140k
Experience: In addition to the education requirements, this
candidate would have 7-10 years design experience in a single
discipline (e.g. nuclear medicine, diagnostic imaging or other FDA
regulated medical device related position.) This would be followed
by several years of multi-disciplinary design experience on large
capital equipment system and must possess medical diagnostic
industry awareness. Accomplishments should provide evidence of
practical knowledge of standards and regulations, both domestic and
international (e.g. FDA, ISO 9000, UL etc.).
Education: -
BS/MS in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Physics or
Biomedical Engineering.
Relocation available ? The
Systems Design Engineer will apply a broad interdisciplinary
background along with experience of large capital equipment systems
to work with marketing to understand and decompose customer and
market driven requirements to system requirements. ? This would
involve facilitating discussion between marketing and senior
engineering staff to ensure a common understanding of the intent and
restructuring or restating requirements to allow objective
validation. ? This person must be able to provide a complete,
unambiguous statement of requirements and provide traceability of
the customer requirements to system requirements and validation
testing.
? The System Design Engineer will act as
overall lead technical resource and system architect for complex
systems for customer solutions. ? The SE will produce
architectural block diagrams and high level designs and may provide
technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations and
technical presentations to various management levels both internal
and customer focused. ? The SE will design and develop system
specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for
hardware/software compatibility. ? This will require the
coordination of the design of subsystems along with the integration
of the total system.
? Acting as the lead technical resource
for the program manager, this position will aid project management
and project design in the work breakdown structure and its
decomposition into work packages. ? The System Engineer will
help define project resource needs and time lines along with various
functional managers.
? The System Design Engineer will own
and oversee the development of the system integration plan that maps
out how multiple multi-disciplinary elements of the system will be
brought together to form an initial working unit. ? The SE will
also define the testing required to ensure that the System Design
has been achieved and meets requirements. ? As system level
integration test manager, the SE will lead the engineering staff in
the development of specific integration test protocols and
participate in the execution of those tests as part of the
engineering team.
The System Design engineer will support
detail design activities through review of specification documents,
participating in design reviews, review of manuals and technical
instructions, and take an active role in risk analysis, defect
identification, and bug scrubs. ? This position identifies,
analyzes and resolves program support deficiencies. ? It also
develops and recommends corrective actions. ? As such, the
System Design Engineer must have knowledge of design controls and
regulatory requirements associated with the development of complex
