The Research Computing Specialist / Systems Administrator will provide system administration support for BUMC LinGA Computing Resource.
Duties include but are not necessarily limited to:
* Manage user accounts
* Provide assistance to users with UNIX utilities and scientific applications
* Troubleshoot queuing system scheduler submission issues
* Manage resource utilization
* Maintain compute and storage cluster hardware & software stack as well as related servers
* Develop and maintain system documentation as well as training and reference materials for the user community utilizing knowledge management tools such as Wiki, etc
* Evaluate, deploy and maintain new technology solutions for research activities
* Write scripts to automate common tasks
* Tune system libraries and application parameters to ensure efficient use of computing resources
* Maintain computing resources inventory and track support contract information. Required Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a strong mathematics background is required along with 1 to 3 years of related experience. Experience supporting Bioinformatics & Genetics/Genomics tools highly desirable. Ability to perform basic and advanced UNIX/Linux administration tasks is required along with experience with large scale computational systems / HPC Linux clusters. Also required is programming experience in shell scripting (bash), a scripting language such as PERL, python and a low level programming language (C/C++, Fortran 90, Java) which requires explicit memory management. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and security. Experience handling large and complex datasets. Experience compiling, installing and using scientific math libraries such as LAPACK, FFTW, etc. Job Location Boston, MA, US. Position Type Full-Time/Regular Salary Grade 54
