Essential Duties 1. Supervise workflow and delegate responsibility for laboratory functions; orientate and train staff members. Monitor work progress and evaluate performance. Manage time and attendance records, including scheduling time off. Assist in the corrective action process. Assist with the selection of staff. 2. Supervise the day to day activities of the Cytology staff, as well as organizing, prioritizing, and distributing the daily work. 3. Direct and supervise the accurate and timely preparation, screening, and reporting of specimens. 4. Maintain quality of lab work, complying with University, State, and Federal regulatory agency standards. 5. In collaboration with manager, formulate, establish, and implement quality standards; ensure complying performance. 6. Develop, revise, and implement new preparatory and staining techniques. 7. Ensure compliance with all university and governmental regulations concerning health and safety. 8. Formulate the annual supply and equipment budget and evaluate order and maintain lab equipment and supplies. Assist with the selection and ordering of new equipment; maintain inventory. Arrange and coordinate support services to the Laboratory. Oversee maintenance and repair of laboratory equipment. 9. Perform other duties as directed by the Manager or Director of Cytopathology to ensure the proper functioning of the lab. Required Education and Experience 1. Bachelor's degree and five years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional Education and Experience 1. Bachelor's degree and five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. ASCP (CT) Certification. Skills & Abilities 1.
