Requisition Number 11-0551 Title Substitute Teachers City East Hartford Description The CREC Polaris Center in East Hartford is seeking qualified Substitute Teachers to work on a per diem basis in an alternative educational program in East Hartford serving ED/BD teenagers with a wide range of learning styles, academic abilities and social, emotional and behavioral challenges. Position requires experience in individualizing instruction, utilizing positive behavioral interventions and supports and strong interpersonal and classroom management skills. Patience, flexibility, a sense of humor, the ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and a belief that all students can learn and achieve at high levels will serve you well. Work hours: 7:30am - 2:30pm. Requirements Bachelor's degree required, as well as experience working with emotionally disturbed and/or learning disabled students. Certified teachers preferred, special education certification a plus.
Candidates should have a strong background in student behavior management, either from an internship, a teaching or student teaching assignment or paid work experience(s) in comparable settings.
Computer competence a plus, particularly with SmartBoard systems.
