Position Description
Senior Training & Education Specialist will be responsible for continuously monitoring the training needs of designated areas within Medtronic's Spinal and Biologics Business' field sales force and implementing training programs to effectively address those needs. In conjunction with department heads and personnel, this person will assist with the creation and implementation of programs to address the needs of the sales force needs as they relate to selling skills, clinical and product knowledge, and compliance. This person will have focus on specific product lines and product groups and work to create and deliver training to increase sales in these designated areas.
Position Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Partner with Global Sales Training team, marketing and/or technical groups, and sales management to ensure execution of training strategies based on business needs.
Work closely with Global Sales Training team and other departments to develop and deliver effective training curricula.
Develop training courses, content and methodology to maintain relevancy to current business needs.
Establish effective relationships across cross functional groups including sales, marketing, education, operations, HR, finance, and sales training.
Assess field sales development needs to drive effective training initiatives.
Advise and coach managers regarding implementation of training and development tools and practices.
Integrate external training best practices and trends into Medtronic Spinal & Biologics development strategies, processes, and training curriculum.
Work closely with sales management to ensure that sales training strategies are communicated to and implemented with all employees.
Provide and/or conduct evaluation of training effectiveness beyond the classroom.
Develop methods to measure behavior change and advise sales management of results.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant products and applications in spine, and other designated areas of Medtronic's Spinal and Biologics' business..
Work closely with marketing managers to ensure in-house and field training activities are linked to marketing strategies.
Assess, design and develop appropriate training content, selecting most effective delivery mediums including facilitated classroom instruction, programmed self-guided study, distance learning, and other learning approaches that may be identified, while working within established parameters of budget as specified.
Deliver training as necessary.
Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of related experience, or a Master's degree and four years of related experience
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Degree in life sciences or adult learning or related studies.
Two to three years experience in medical sales or related industry experience.
Experience in developing or managing distance learning and/or e-learning content.
Previous experience in developing content and delivering training in a sales environment.
Experience managing resources and working within budget parameters.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training presentations and training to groups
Ability to apply knowledge to adult learning, including needs assessment and knowledge transfer
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic in accomplishing all objectives of the position
Ability to work well, develop and maintain relationships across cross functional areas
Knowledge of the medical device industry and of sales function and processes
Demonstrated success working in a collaborative team environment
Extreme attention to detail and organization
Consistent industry-related track record of success
Travel requirements: 20-30%
