Our Bellevue-based performance engineering team is seeking motivated engineers with development and testing talent to help us build the next generation on-line advertising systems for Microsoft. As a Software Developer working as part of the Performance Testing team, you will also be expected to collaborate across disciplines to improve the overall performance of large-scale real-time services while reducing the overall cost to serve. To accomplish these objectives, you will be required to:
1. Write highly-optimized code 2. Develop high-throughput performance simulations 3. Ensure that services and components are designed to scale 4. Provide detailed analysis of potential system bottlenecks
To quality for this position, a candidate should hold a 4 year degree in computer science or the equivalent and have 6 years of software development or testing experience. Applicants should also possess the following technical skills:
1. 4 years programming in C++ 2. Proficiency in multi-threaded programming 3. 3 years developing or testing multi-tiered client/server systems 4. Prior work experience in performance testing or performance engineering 5. A working knowledge of server operating systems, such as Windows Server 2008 6. A background in web server platforms, such as IIS or Apache 7. Familiarity with TCP/IP networking 8. A solid foundation in mathematics and statistics
Additionally, the following expertise is preferred:
1. Experience presenting technical information to internal or external audiences, such as part of a engineering conference 2. Experience programming in C# 3. Experience programming or debugging assembly language 4. Familiarity with technologies such as Winsock, SOAP, and AJAX
