Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Special Operations/Irregular Warfare Analyst.
Responsibilities
Support mission-/campaign-level analyses of systems, tactics, techniques and procedures related to Special Operations, asymmetric operations, irregular warfare, unconventional warfare, counter-insurgency, and other related military, homeland defense, or interagency operations. Develop analysis plans, identify effectiveness measures and data requirements, conduct analyses, and interpret results. Develop/maintain relationships with appropriate government organizations, particularly within the Special Operations Community, to identify Special Operations requirements and JHU/APL capabilities to support such requirements.
Participate in and lead studies related to Special Operations, Irregular Warfare, Stability Operations, Military Information Support Operations, Complex Operations and related topics.
Participate in and lead study efforts for DoD organizations / commands within the Special Operations Community, as well as, DHS and other government organizations. Assist in developing analysis plans, conducting analyses, interpreting results, and documenting and communicating results to sponsors.
Support the National Security Analysis Business Area and other appropriate APL business areas through business development efforts directed at designated, current and potential sponsors, particularly within the Special Operations Community.
Qualifications
Required:
M.S. or equivalent in operations research, engineering,, economics, national security or a related discipline. A minimum of 10 years experience in Special Operations, plus experience in DoD or U.S. government operational/strategic planning, Information Operations, and/or Military Information Support Operations. Experience in project/program management and possessive of superb written communications skills and the ability to articulate complex issues to senior decision makers. Possess a solid grasp of National Security and Military Strategies.

Clearance:
TS/SCI Clearance is required. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements for an SSBI and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information. Preference for current SSBI. Eligibility requirements include US citizenship.

Special Working Conditions:
Up to 25% travel required.

Desired:
PhD. in operations research, engineering, economics, national security, or a related discipline. Familiarity with war gaming, modeling and simulation, and other analytical tools used by DoD, DHS, or other Federal agencies.
