A member of our Technical Services Division, located at the JWC in Suffolk, VA, has an opportunity for a
Special Operations Exercise Planner to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The Special Operations Exercise Planner is responsible for scripting realistic and up to date scenarios to facilitate the training of Special Operations Forces and promote SOF and General Purpose Force integration. Determines the support for exercises using the Joint Training System (JTS). Provides expertise and support to the exercise Project Officers during all phases of the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC). Assists the Project Officers in developing a JTT Support Plan for each training event. Coordinates with the SOC-JC Joint Event Team (JET) members to address the specific requirements of the exercise. Supports training audiences by participating in the Joint Training System's planning conferences: Concept Development Conference (CDC), Initial Planning Conference (IPC), Main Planning Conference (MPC), and Final Planning Conference (FPC). Assists in identifying resources required to run the exercise, reviewing final Master Scenario Events List (MSEL), finalizing draft plans and support documents, providing input to the joint exercise directive, updating SOF Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) objectives, finalizing exercise design, and conducting training as required.
Basic Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: • Requires impeccable attention to detail/accuracy
• Must demonstrate flexibility with client and meet demanding deadlines
• Excellent and well founded, written and oral communication skills are absolutely essential
• Must have had staff officer/staff NCO experience in a fast-paced, demanding environment
• Must demonstrate team-oriented mindset with ability to encourage and cooperate with others
• Excellent knowledge and experience using PowerPoint, MS Word, MOSS Portal, and Excel required
• Must have ten to fourteen (10-14) years experience with joint military training exercises (10 yrs with a B.A. & 14 years w/o a degree)
Must be a U.S. Citizen with a current and active U.S. Top Secret level security clearance with SCI access to be selected. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• Bachelor or Masters degree are a plus.
• Experience with operational level joint commands and other governmental entities is preferred.
• Joint experience and familiarity with US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) operations desired.
• Experience serving at, or working directly with geographic combatant commands (GCC) is highly desirable.
• Joint experience and familiarity with Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOC) operations is highly preferred.
• Previous member of Army, Navy, Air Force or Marine Special Operations units or supporting units is highly desirable.
