Software Systems EngineerJob Title: Software Systems Engineer State: Massachusetts
City: Lexington
Description: Group 104-Intelligence and Decision Technologies
The Intelligence and Decision Technologies Group is a multi-disciplinary team supporting deployed U.S. and allied military forces around the world, including operations in Afghanistan. The group develops advanced technologies for processing and integrating data from a variety of sources, such as radar, electro-optic video sensors, and related unstructured textual data, to support timely and effective human decision making. These problems are addressed by understanding the intelligence analysts' work flow processes and by developing suitable exploitation automation systems. The group develops efficient data and network management software systems to transform high-volume data streams into tactically useful information for human analysts. Technical disciplines required include mathematical modeling and multi-source information fusion methods based upon statistical and graphical models and the software engineering skills to implement them in net-centric and cloud-based systems.
Research positions are immediately available in the area of information architectures for collaborative exploitation of large multi-source data sets, pattern recognition and machine learning, and modeling simulation of surveillance and reconnaissance systems. Successful candidates will provide system architectures and design of distributed web services to support collaborative analysis in support of decision making.
Candidate must be willing to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Familiarity with remote sensing technologies and military Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems is a plus. Occasional travel may be required.
Requirements: Positions require BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related system engineering or information sciences discipline. 0 -3 years experience Strong communications skills, both oral and written, are required. Experience analyzing large semi-structured data sets and developing pattern extraction algorithms is desired, as is knowledge of any subset of Java, MATLAB, C/C++, database systems, web services and related technologies.
