Our Joint Training Data Services (JTDS) Team, located in Suffolk, VA, has an opportunity for a
Senior Database Developer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The JTDS Team supports a unique joint staff capability supporting the needs of the US DoD Modeling and Simulation Training Community. As member of the Joint Training Data Services (JTDS) team this Developer will be primarily responsible for Database development of the JTDS Servers. The successful candidate will be required to work in development atmosphere, demonstrate strong business judgment, initiative, and organizational skills, work effectively with team members under minimal supervision, and be a team player capable of coordinating development efforts with members of cross-functional teams. Ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization and external contacts.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities of the JTDS Developer will include, but not be limited to: • Gather and analyze requirements to support database design.
• Occasional travel to worldwide sites for testing and/or demonstrations.
• Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements database applications.
• Participates in the testing process; through test, review, analysis, and the certification of software.
• Candidates must possess good problem solving skills and be able to work in a development team environment.
• Candidates must be able to apply general software development and integration principals to new hardware and software in order to adapt to innovative technology.
Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
• Extensive experience writing XML parsers/generators/validators required
• Requires experience with database query tools like Toad, SQL*Plus, SQL Developer
• Must be a Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) as well as a Security Certified Professional
• Requires experience working with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
• Needs to have Oracle 11g PL/SQL Development Experience: Writing Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Views, Triggers, XML DB API
• Bachelors Degree in computer science, engineering or related technical subject nine (9) years exp in related industry required. (13 years exp can substitute for degree)
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active U.S. Secret security clearance to be selected. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information..
Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:
• Familiarity with Linux is desired.
• Familiarity with PKI technologies is highly desirable.
• Working experience with JavaScript frameworks such as ExtJS desired.
• Military background & understanding of Military Training Sites is preferred.
• Java Development Experience: JDBC, Servlets, JSP, JAXB, Web Services, WSDL, SOAP, RESTful is highly preferred..
