Job Description: Amazon eCommerce Platform offers a set of platform services optimized for building world-class customizable and extensible eCommerce applications. We are looking for an outstanding technical/programming writer to help us deliver documentation for the new portal being designed for product launch managers and application developers. As a technical writer in the group, you will be responsible for the creation of technical documentation for the portal, a new set of APIs we are delivering, as well as work on existing eCommerce Platform Services documentation and streamline them to make them more accurate, discoverable and self-serviceable. The documentation to be created will include conceptual overviews, developer guides, detailed API documentation, and sample code. Your documentation will be used by varied audience, including i internal software developers and ii business launch managers. Experience delivering developer-oriented technical documentation for a platform is required. You must have experience writing documentation for APIs, SDKs, components, and tools. This position requires precise documentation, clear communication, and presentation skills, along with a solid understanding of software engineering, and a self-starter attitude. To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable creating and documenting code written in Java or C++ and be well versed in web services such as REST or SOAP . You should also be comfortable creating sample code and applications that demonstrate individual components of the system, and share this information with others. You must have a strong computer science and technical writing background. You have to be a self-starter and be able to interact with service developers on your own to get the right information to document. You need to be familiar with open source doc models like DocBook or DITA. Familiarity with Visual Studio or Eclipse and version control tools is desired. Basic Qualifications: Technical writing - have experience writing documentation for APIs, SDKs, components, and tools Preferred Qualifications: You need to be familiar with open source doc models like DocBook or DITA, and should have experience applying XSLT transformations to HTML. Familiarity with Visual Studio or Eclipse and version control tools is desired. Please attach each of the following writing samples links OK but should cover the areas mentioned below : a. A conceptual walk-through or an overview document - this document should described introduce a concept to the reader and walk the reader though understanding the concept. b. A How to document which walks a user through a series of steps. E.g. troubleshooting steps, installation steps, etc. c. API reference document .
