Aspen Music Festival & School - Senior Recording Engineer

Senior Engineers are members of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Institute (ESARI) staff which also includes a Director of Audio Production, Chief Engineer, Media Engineer, Media Assistant, Assistant Engineers, and a Dub Room/Archive staff member. This team records all of the performances for the eight-week summer season as well as providing sound reinforcement for many Aspen Music Festival and School events. The ESARI staff, including Senior Engineers, record in a variety of venues including the Benedict Music Tent, Harris Concert Hall, Wheeler Opera House, and at the Aspen Music Festival and School’s Castle Creek Campus. Senior Engineers will be responsible for the recording of a wide variety of performing ensembles including symphonic orchestras, chamber ensembles, operas and choral groups, new music, and computer music ensembles. Services extend to occasional live radio broadcasts as well as audio and video internet webcasts.
Qualifications: Senior Recording Engineers should have significant prior training and experience in recording classical music and/or providing sound reinforcement for a variety of music genres and/or editing and mastering classical music. Applicants should have a positive attitude, great attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and be committed to a team effort throughout the course of the summer program.
Senior Recording Engineers should be prepared to follow prescribed guidelines for recording and sound reinforcement set-ups and to provide additional leadership to assist in mentoring Assistant Recording Engineers.
Applicants must be able to lift boxes up to 50 lbs and have a valid driver's license.
Application Procedure:Along with completing the online application and uploading a resume with references and cover letter, applicants are to submit a stereo recording no longer than 20 minutes of representative recordings and an accompanying recording report detailing the process.
