EDC, with Paul G. Allen’s Vulcan Productions, has developedSuccess at the Core(SaC) a research-based, award-winning, and free online suite of professional development materials that strengthen school-based instruction and leadership. Thistoolkit helps educators build school-wide vision of high-quality instruction, adopt practices associated with student engagement and achievement, and improve math, science, and English Language Arts instruction. Seven Leadership Development modules and 24 Teacher Development strategies feature documentary-style videos of classroom and team practice, alongside teacher commentary, lesson plans, student artifacts, resources, and guides to support currently has over 7,200 members in almost every state and in over 30 countries. The flexible design of the materials means that they are being used in a range of education contexts. Integration of social media tools into theSaCsite and outreach in two Pacific Northwest states are part of the current scope of work.
The Senior Project Director will be responsible for day-to-day management, implementation of contracted scope of work, and project leadership, managing a seasoned project team and receiving support from a Principal Investigator. The Senior Project Director will interact regularly with the funder and with a communications firm in shepherdingSaCover the next two years.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures. The Senior Project Director • Is responsible for programmatic/technical success as well as for administrative/business/financial viability of project • Is primarily responsible for the production and management of resources to meet project or program development implementation objectives • Directs • large, complex and strategically important project • project teams in planning for project performance, and adherence to schedules, resource requirements, and quality standards • training for project activities • technical and creative production • review processes • Approves plan revisions, sets priorities & strategies; evaluates progress • Defines roles and goals • Determines resource needs; arranges appropriate internal or subcontracted services • Oversees • internal & external communications, particularly with funder • project documentation • financial management • staff selection and placement • subcontractor and partner relationships • administrative support • Offers senior-level technical content support • Presents project progress &/or results in public fora &/or publications • Develops policies & procedures to improve project management efficiency, quality, consistency or effectiveness; implements and enforces EDC policies, procedures or systems • Is responsible for forecasting and budget development • Generates additional work for EDC through business development efforts • Is responsible for completion of contracted scope of work, including • integrating social media tools intoSaCtoward the larger goal of instructional improvement and implementing social media plan for SaC • managing data system to collect and learn from metrics ofSaCreach, appeal and use • cultivatingSaC“champion” members to build awareness and promote use ofSaC • engaging and supporting selected leaders in two Pacific Northwest states to leverage use ofSaCwithin their states • partnering with selected national organizations to build visibility for and use ofSaC • advancing a research/evaluation agenda to infomSaCand the field The Senior Project Director • Promotes equity and opportunity in support of EDC’s commitment to diversity • Builds positive client, vendor, and funder relations • Co-authors papers, presentations, books • Coordinates work of project staff • Guides feedback exchanges • Trains and coaches • Supervises technical and administrative staff • Is involved directly with team members, collaborating to achieve project or program objectives • Travels occasionally QUALIFICATIONS- This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills.
