Middlebury College is actively seeking candidates to fill an immediate opening of a key member of the Central Systems and Network Services team. Specific position responsibilities include: Provide hands-on analysis, design, troubleshooting, installation, implementation and administration of local-area wired, wireless and wide-area networks, including but not limited to routers, switches, device controllers, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, access control, wireless access points, virtual private networks and monitoring services (including real-time and historical reporting solutions). Identify and analyze operational risks. Implement high availability and automated fail over solutions and disaster recovery/avoidance planning with regular testing to minimize risk of service interruption and expedite recovery. Ensure minimal disruption of delivery of services and minimal risk of data breaches by implementing industry best practices, attentive monitoring and problem analysis, and exceeding security and compliance guidelines. Plan upgrades and enhancements as well as preform troubleshooting and repairs to the College’s network wired and wireless infrastructure, coordinating with Facilities and external contractors as appropriate.
Education & Training Bachelor’s degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience 7 years of progressive experience of demonstrated success providing enterprise network services. Specific experience in the design, implementation and hands-on management of substantial and complex computer networks.
Knowledge and Skills Knowledge of the principals, design and implementation of computer networks, extensive experience with enterprise network equipment hardware and software. Significant experience and/or certifications with specific systems are highly desirable including: Dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP) Juniper OS (Junos) Juniper Firewall (SRX, Netscreen), VPN Cisco OS (IOS) Aruba Wireless (controllers, access points, mesh, AirWave) Bradford Network Access Control (Network Sentry) Infoblox (Grid solutions for DNS, DHCP) A10 (EX series traffic shaping and optimization) Load Balancing Appliances
