Department Center for Education Policy Research Salary Grade 058 Union 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary Duties & Responsibilities The Senior Manager for Partnerships and Business Developmentwill work with SDP leadership and existing partners to dramatically extend SDP's reach and impact in the education sector. Specifically, the Senior Managerwill be responsible for developing relationships with key partners that can either help with the dissemination of SDP's work or integrate SDP approaches directly into larger tools. In addition, the Senior Manager will work with two collaborative partners (Education Pioneers and The Broad Center) to identify mutually beneficial scaling strategies. The Senior Manager will develop revenue strategies for SDP - including carving off parts of the overall program that could be paid for by agencies or third-party funders, developing summer institutes, licensing technology, and other revenue-producing efforts. Finally, s/he will be a part of the core team recruiting new funders and agencies to SDP. The Senior Manager will be in charge of "marketing" the diagnostics and other components of SDP.
Key responsibilities:
* Develop partnerships with education agencies, non-profit organizations, philanthropists, and universities to fundamentally advance the use of data in education to improve student achievement.
* Develop (with leadership team) overall business and partnership strategy for SDP.
* Identify key audiences to approach with information about the Strategic Data Project (i.e., presenting at conferences, publishing articles, presenting case studies, etc.). Identify other organizations to serve as good conduits for broad dissemination of key findings and analytic tools and strategies.
* Identify third-party analytic tool providers that could integrate SDP services into their offerings or serve as a channel for distribution.
* Develop revenue and business strategies that will allow SDP to become self-sustaining in 2-3 years.
* Manage relationship with core collaborative partners (the Broad Center and EdPioneers).
·Build strong relationships with CEPR staff and faculty advisers, as well as partner school districts/agency leadership, in order to better understand potential impact of and possible channels for our s isa two year term position from the date of hire. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Minimum four years of professional experience in communications and outreach, education and foundations, or a related field. Excellent written communication skills vel approximately 20% - 30%.

Additional Qualifications Master's degree preferred. Applicant should have a deep knowledge of current education reform initiatives, as they relate to the vision of the Strategic Data Project. Successful applicants will also have experience with the development and execution of business or other partnerships. Excellent verbal communication skills. Familiarity with education-related technical tools and applications helpful. Ability to listen, observe, discuss, and create clear, compelling reports and presentations. Experience working as part of a cross-functional team. Existing networks in education reform space helpful.
Additional Information Launched in 2008, the Strategic Data Project (SDP), housed at CEPR, partners with some of the nation's largest school districts, school networks, and state education agencies to bring high-quality research methods and data analysis to bear on strategic and policy decisions. It is the mission of the Strategic Data Project to transform data use in education to improve student achievement. SDP endeavors to do this in three primary ways: 1) conducting rigorous diagnostic analysis on teacher effectiveness and college-going success using agency data; 2) placing top-notch analysts as data fellows in each agency for two years; and 3) disseminating key findings and helpful tools to non-SDP partners .
The Strategic Data Project currently partners with 14 agencies across the nation, including ten districts, two states, and two networks of charter schools. In 2011-12, we will expand to at least nine additional agencies.
