Senior Development Officer, Leadership Giving (Band 15)
Title: Senior Development Officer, Leadership Giving (Band 15) Location: St. George (downtown Toronto) Other Locations: The Senior Development Officer (SDO), Leadership Giving will be part of a team working under the general direction of the Director of Development and closely with the Manager, Alumni Relations and Advancement Operations. The incumbent will be tasked with the responsibility to identify, cultivate and steward prospects and donors at the Leadership Giving level (gifts of $1,000 to $25,000). The SDO will focus on increasing the number of donors at the Leadership level as well as on overall revenue generated, leading to a transformative impact on the Faculty of Medicine's overall fundraising performance. The incumbent will develop customized tailored programs and initiatives designed to increase the interest and involvement of donors with the goal of moving donors from Leadership to Major Gifts ($25,000 and up).
The incumbent will develop a strategic plan for Leadership Giving. Additionally, the SDO will plan, administer and execute all aspects of the Faculty of Medicine's Leadership Giving program, including leading the development of communications and marketing materials, making face-to-face solicitations, managing and coaching volunteers, tracking and analysing results, coordinating stewardship activities, and coordinating with Division of University Advancement (DUA) to ensure consistency with University's Leadership Giving Program.
The incumbent will be the relationship manager for a portfolio of 250 or more Leadership prospects; through face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors, s/he will understand prospect interests, engagement and inclination to determine appropriate follow-up and ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain and increase the donor's involvement, interest and continuing support.
(Minimum)
Education: University degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: Five years' experience in a fundraising role with a proven track record of success. Demonstrated Leadership or Major Gift development experience; experience with donor contact and personal solicitation. Well-developed project management, liaison and relationship management experience. Ability to work cooperatively with others; experience leading and managing volunteers and staff.
Skills: Well-developed fundraising skills including direct mail and face-to-face are essential; the incumbent must be comfortable asking for donations. Strong computer skills including well developed skills with word processing, database software and spreadsheet programs. Familiarity with fundraising databases ong project management, organizational and analytical skills; the incumbent must be data-oriented and able to understand and analyse complex data and sophisticated solicitation matrices and develop programs to address identified challenges and opportunities.
Other: Demonstrated ability to work in a hectic and results oriented environment. Understanding of the Faculty of Medicine and the University of Toronto is preferred, as well as solid knowledge of the post secondary education system and the fundraising sector. Exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills. Evidence of leadership and initiative, tact, diplomacy, attention to detailand creativity. Experience with campaigns preferred.
