Senior Counselor - Chesapeake
Job Overview
The Senior Counselor is an ""in-center"" expert on the science behind weight loss and is responsible for the transfer of nutritional and behavior science knowledge to staff and to members directly so they are empowered to take charge of their weight management on sustainable long term basis. The Senior Counselor is also responsible for meticulously executing the protocols, continuously updating the required database, and for mentoring and managing center counselors.
This position is Exempt and reports to the Center Manager. The Senior Counselor has direct responsibility for in-center counselors.
Job Duties
Provide individualized nutritional counseling to members using selected analytic tools and indicators.
Provide/design detailed weight management work plans.
Mentor center counselors on products, programs, and counseling best practices; provide guidance and coaching to counselors as needed.
Support, motivate and educate members on Medifast personalized programs, healthy eating habits, and the science of weight loss. This includes:
Educate members on how to face the challenges of weight loss and counsel towards behavioral changes in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Monitoring member weight loss progress, suggesting changes in program and food options for increased success.
Perform activities designed to track improvements in health (weight, blood pressure, pulse rate, measurements, ketosis testing, and In-Body).
Perform Health Risk Assessment and offer advice/solutions to reduce risk related to diet.
Act as a role model of the principles behind of our programs and protocols.
Provide support and assistance in meal replacement selections.
Rank and rate staff, identify high performers, deliver performance feedback and communicate career paths.
Coach staff on performance and professional development, holding all counselors to the highest standards operational excellence.
Deliver corrective action and coaching to counselors as needed in conjunction with HR pursuant to the high standards of professionalism and performance.
Implement and foster a culture of consumer delight through an empowered staff that pays attention to every detail.
Provide administrative assistance in center as needed.
Uphold the MWCC Performance Standards - see attached.
Other duties as identified and assigned by management.
Experience and Education
• Minimum four (4) years experience in counseling, nutrition or wellness fields.
• Four (4) year degree in Nutrition, Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work -or- Nursing Degree/CNA -or- a Registered Dietician/Certified Nutritionist.
• Experience directly managing and coaching others, including performance management, review and counseling as necessary preferred.
• Knowledge and/or experience in weight loss/weight management preferred.
Skills Requirements

Knowledge and experience in weight loss, weight management, nutrition.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to nurture and be empathic to members needs.

• Proficiency in the science of weight loss, weight management, and related behavioral and nutritional sciences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Operating Systems and CRM Database.
