The University of Connecticut, University Information Technology Services, is seeking an energetic, proactive, self-motivated individual with strong technical skills to fill the position of Senior Extract Transformation and Load (ETL) Developer in the Enterprise Application Services unit of University Information Technology Services.
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of a designated manager, this position provides advanced level technical assistance as a Senior Extract Transformation and Load (ETL) Developer. The analyst will assist the Data Warehouse team provide Student Administration ETL Development support and services. The Senior ETL Developer will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the Student Administration Data Mart which is loaded using Cognos DecisionStream v7.2 and hosted on Microsoft SQL Server 2000.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop Data Stage and DecisionStream ETL scripts.
Enhance the existing data model supported by UITS.
Document the ETL processes and standards in use.
Provide ongoing production support for the Data Warehouses/Marts supported.
Mentor and collaborate with other ETL developers.
Improve current processes and identify and recommend future ETL tools.
Improve current services as well as identify new services that would benefit our customers.
Provide backup coverage for IBM Datastage.
Analyze and coordinate with customers for business reporting and analysis requirements gathering.
Suggest, demonstrate and use techniques needed to develop the appropriate ETL.
Implement best practice methodologies for identifying, gathering, and documenting processes, business needs, and requirements.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Bachelor's degree in computer-related field and five years programming experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability in analytical reasoning and logical problem solving.
Two to five years ETL development experience.
Demonstrated business requirements gathering experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to show initiative and work independently and on a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
Evidence of the ability to provide leadership in programming activities.
Demonstrated DecisionStream ETL development experience.
Demonstrated SQL Server administration experience.
Demonstrated Dimensional data modeling experience
Two years Higher Education experience.
Two years experience with Hyperion reporting.
Two years DB2 administration experience.
Two years experience with DataStage ETL development.
