Secondary Special Education Teachers Mastery Charter Schools is seeking dynamic and passionate secondary (7-12) Special Education teachers. Special Education teachers will show an unwavering commitment to improving the knowledge, skills, and lives of students with disabilities. Special Education teachers will ensure that students meet academic success in their classrooms as measured by achievement on IEP goals, student grades, and the PSSA. The Special Education teacher reports directly to the Assistant Principal of Special Education.
Key Responsibilities: • Driving student achievement for students with disabilities in their classes • Providing instruction in reading and/or math to students with disabilities • Responding to progress monitoring results and student assessment data • Establishing a positive, structured, achievement-focused classroom • Providing support to students, parents, and general education staff and supporting student learning • Mentoring and coaching students on self-regulation and organizational skills • Developing effective IEPs that translate into measurable results for students • Providing leadership as a member of the Special Education team
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree & certification in Special Education • Results-oriented individual • Flexible thinker who is willing to do “whatever it takes” • Belief in the Mastery Charter School mission and instructional model • A desire to provide our students with a world-class education • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for students with disabilities • Familiarity with the social-emotional needs of students with disabilities
