Location: The College: The College of Education and Health Professions offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate level with more than 3,500 students pursuing coursework both on-campus and off-campus. The College is comprised of academic units based in six buildings on the Fayetteville campus with academic centers in Little Rock and Hot Springs. The
Department: The
Department of Education Reform is one of six academic units in the college and was created in 2005 with a $20 million endowment. The mission of the
Department is to advance education and economic development by focusing on the improvement of academic achievement in elementary and secondary schools. Comprehensive and integrated efforts, focusing on teaching, innovative research, the dissemination of knowledge, state-or-the-art practices, and practical hands-on education programs are being implemented in five priority areas: (a) teacher quality, (b) leadership, (c) policy, (d) accountability/transparency, and (e) school choice.
University and Location: The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a student
population in excess of 18,000, serves as the major center of liberal and professional
education and as the primary land-grant campus in the state. It is Arkansas' major source
of theoretical and applied research and the provider of a wide range of public services throughout the state and nation. Fayetteville is located in the beautiful Ozark Mountains in the Northwest corner of the state with an approximate metropolitan area population of 250,000 residents. The city and area have been featured in numerous publications as a very desirable location. In a recent article, Money magazine listed Fayetteville as one of the "100 Best Places to Live."

Annual Salary: This is a 12-month, full-time, non-tenure track position. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and background. The anticipated starting date will be March 1, 2012. However, a different starting date may be negotiated.

The
Department of Education Reform in the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, invites nominations and applications for the position of Research Associate. The
Working Title for the position is School Performance Evaluator. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure-track position.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Earned bachelor's degree in a quantitatively-oriented social science field from an accredited college or university.
2. Mastery of Microsoft Office applications.
3. Experience in the use of standard statistical techniques.
4. Familiarity with statistical software, such as Excel, SPSS, SAS, or Stata.
5. A minimum of two years of relevant experience.
6. Excellent written and interpersonal skills
Preferred
Qualifications: 1. Earned master's degree in a quantitatively-oriented social science field from an accredited college or university.
2. Experience working with large datasets.
3. Experience with data related to K-12 education and general knowledge of K-12 education policy
Job Duties:
The individual selected to fill this position will be expected to perform duties in database management and statistical analysis. This comprises the maintenance and updating of the Office for Education Policy's various large databases as well as the design, implementation, and interpretation of statistical data analyses.
