General Comments:

We're looking for a contractSLPto work in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan ASAP through June 2010 (and maybe extending to next school year).
This school district is located in Hancock, a small progressive community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Your caseload will range in age from 5 - 26. Michigan serves students until they graduate or reach the age of 26; older students are typically cognitively impaired. Typical needs include articulation, phonology, receptive and expressive language, social/pragmatic communication related to autism, fluency and assistive technology for communication.
Consultation with teachers is also part of the therapist's duties. Much of the therapy for students in general education classrooms is pull-out, groups and individual. However, depending on the needs the consultation model is also used. Work hours are approximately 8:00-3:30 with occasional meetings prior to and after the official school day. You would work in 3-4 schools in different locations and the most distant could be 12-35 miles from the district office.
Qualifications -- Must hold a Masters Degree in Communication and Speech Disorders, state certification or ASHA CCCs, New graduates are welcome to apply for Clinical Fellowship.
