The Safety Engineer / Industrial Hygiene (IH) Leader is responsible for establishing and leading continuous improvement initiatives in the site Safety and IH programs at our Selkirk, NY site. (Selkirk is located just south of Albany, NY).
Essential Functions: (Responsibilities): .Lead efforts with operations and engineering teams to identify and execute programs designed to continually improve occupational safety and IH performance through improved ergonomics, work practices, engineering controls, etc. .Lead employee life critical safety programs including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space Rescue, Fall Protection, etc. .Provide technical support to ensure compliance with the appropriate regulations. Serve as the plant's primary interface with regulatory agencies concerning occupational safety and IH. .Serves as a mentor and technical advisor to operations and engineering teams; Provides support to project or incident investigations teams to help identify and mitigate risks. .Lead employee health and physical exposure surveillance programs, including Respiratory Protection Program, Hearing Conservation Program, Asbestos Abatement Program, and Ionizing Radiation Safety Program. .Lead Chemical Management Program, maintaining Approved Chemical List and coordinating EPA EPCRA SARA 302, 311, and 312 reporting. .Participate in the site New Material Introduction (NMI) programs screening for potential IH impact. Approve and coordinate the management for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) for all site chemicals. Qualifications/Requirements .BS in EHS discipline or Engineering or equivalent education and work experience. .Minimum 5 years experience in Safety Engineering/Management and Industrial Hygiene .Must be a Certified Safety Professional or able to complete certification within 6 months .Strong communication and influencing skills; excellent personal organization
